We all know these are rough times because of the pandemic but sports are still being played for entertainment and because sports players need to stay in touch with their game. In this article, I’ll be telling you how sporting events are different in the time of a pandemic compared to normal times. I will be writing about the Australian Open and the Super Bowl.

Australian Open is a tennis

tournament where professional

players play. It is rough

especially in 2021 with the

covid-19 pandemic but players

still made it to Australia to

compete. During a normal

year many fans from all

over the world would fly to

Melbourne to watch the

Australian open. They would

all sit in the stadium without masks, social distancing, and clear barriers. They would cheer, clap and bring out many posters and signs rooting for the player they want to win. With all of this, the players feel happy and also feel like they have a team supporting them throughout the match.

 

Now with the pandemic, no such thing happens. Not many people are allowed in the stadium, everybody has masks on and has clear barriers. People cannot bring up signs or even cheer loudly or start talking (these rules were requested but not enforced). This year in the middle of the Australian open Melbourne went into a 5 day lockdown and the stadium was completely empty in the first few matches. I don’t know about you but I would feel sad not to see my fans cheering me on if I were a tennis star...
