An Interview with Mrs. Lo: The Truth of Online School

by Kashvi Lath

Kashvi: “Thanks for doing this interview! So first of all is teaching online easier or harder?”

Mrs. Lo: “It’s harder because it takes longer to grade assignments online, and you can’t always see kids’ work when you want to help them.”

Kashvi: “Okay thank you! What are some other difficulties when teaching online?”

Mrs. Lo: “There are a lot of fun things we can’t do either, such as any arts & crafts projects. It’s possible to do them, but you have to make sure everyone has all the materials. Also sometimes, people may have technical difficulties that would make it hard for kids to follow along.”

Kashvi: “Thank you, now are there any good things about online school?”

Mrs. Lo: “You can teach from the comfort of your home and not have to worry about traffic or packing your lunch.”

Kashvi: “Okay. Has online school helped spend more time with your family?”

Mrs. Lo: “Yes. We definitely have more time to spend with each other since we don’t have to travel anywhere.”

Kashvi: “Nice! According to most of this, I think you prefer school not being online and I definitely agree. Thank you so much for doing this interview. Have a good day.”

New Debate Club Opening Up

by Ruhan Mitra

Even though quarantine is still initiated and we can’t go to school in person, there are still so many things you can sign up  for. For example, a new debate club is opening up. You get placed somewhere based on how good you are at debating and they teach you how to debate. And additionally, there’s going to be a debate tournament at the end of it.

Update on PJ Story Night

cowritten by Ruhan Mitra & Parent Lead

Weibel PTO held a fundraiser for the Weibel School Library on March 2nd, 2021. The event was a PJ Story night held on zoom and the stories were read by none other than our own awesome Weibel staff.

The event was a huge success with around a 100 tickets sold and 120 kids attending it.Ticket sales raised a whopping $1000 for the library!

The PTO also gave out hot chocolate and snacks for all the kids to enjoy at home as they cuddle in to listen to six different stories. Two different story sessions happened at the same time: one for kinder to 2nd graders and the other for 3rd-5th graders, so that kids of different grades could enjoy age-appropriate stories.

Our librarian Mrs. Hawks and Mrs. Wang helped the PTO coordinate this event. Many thanks to them as well all the teachers who read for the students.

The night also featured a contest called "Are You a Good Listener?". Once all the stories had been read, students had to answer a few questions to show how well they paid attention. Although many students got all the answers right, one lucky winner was randomly drawn from each grade.

Congratulations! to all the winners, we hope you enjoyed your $25 Amazon e-gift card!
