Sports in Quarantine

by Libelle Hsu

Doing sports in quarantine is not easy since the Coronavirus spreads easily with contact with others and equipment in the gym, but there are many ways to continue staying active.

First, when going out is restricted, online exercise courses are a good option. There are many YouTube exercise videos and most of them are free. View and participate with them any time or anywhere you have free time and an open, empty space. Typical indoor sports include stretching, yoga and weight lifting. Exercise video games, such as Kinect, are helpful.

Second, if you can go out to breathe fresh air, there is more space to do some things outdoors. Find a big, deserted space. You are able to do your own freestyle workout without contacting anybody else, such as; running, jumping rope, tumbling or just walking.

Third, you can do it with real people. Now since the Coronavirus is more prevalent, we have to wear masks and maintain social distance. You have to stay at least 6 feet away from other teammates, other competitors, and officials.  Try tennis, badminton, or pickleball.

With these tips, we can find a way to do something, to be active and be together, it could help us get through these extraordinary, scary, and terrible times.
